It’s never too soon to start thinking about entrepreneurship. Countless young people have started successful companies and enjoy the many benefits of entrepreneurship. The Regional Business Centre is proud to support young entrepreneurs in the city of Greater Sudbury.
The resources below provide a great starting point for young people considering entrepreneurship. Check out the programs, grants, blogs and articles geared to young entrepreneurs.
Programs
This program is designed to assist enterprising young people (between the ages of 15 and 29) start and run a summer business. Participants are eligible for business training, up to $3000 in funding and one-on-one mentorship with a local entrepreneur.
FedNor Business Plan Challenge The FedNor Business Plan Challenge is a competition open to all secondary school students in the Greater Sudbury and Manitoulin regions. Students must develop a realistic, innovative, and comprehensive business plan and present their business venture at the annual tradeshow. There are many great prizes to be won!
Young Professionals Association (YPA) YPA provides opportunities for young professionals (between the ages of 20 and 35) within the city of Greater Sudbury to meet on a regular basis, to build relationships and to share perspectives through networking events, educational seminars and conference type events.
Loans
The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) is a national charity dedicated to growing our nation’s economy one young entrepreneur at a time. We look at character not collateral, when providing youth, age 18-34, with pre-launch coaching, business resources, start-up financing and mentoring, to help them launch and sustain a successful entrepreneurial business.

Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) Young Entrepreneur Program The NOHFC Young Entrepreneur program aims to mobilize a new generation of entrepreneurs and community builders in the North. If you are a residents of Northern Ontario, 18 to 29 and are planning on starting your own for-profit business in the North, you may be eligible for this program!
